- Engage in direct experience and focused reflection to increase knowledge about who the Métis are, in both historical and contemporary context.
- Experience Métis cultural displays and artwork that tell the story about the Métis diaspora and lived experiences of the Métis people.
ABOUT THE SESSION
This session will be facilitated by Lisa Shepherd, who is a Métis knowledge carrier. Lisa works responsibly to hold, share and revitalize Métis culture, educating people through authentic artwork and storytelling.
This workshop is aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #23 and the Province’s commitment to address systemic racism in health care as outlined in the In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous-specific Racism and Discrimination in B.C. Health Care.
This session will offer a catered lunch from Salmon n’ Bannock using traditional ingredients.
